Meet the Teacher: Mae Punzalan

At the heart of every great Shanghai American School educational experience is an exceptional faculty. As we make our way through Women’s History Month, we're rolling out the red carpet for a fresh series: Meet the Teacher. Think of it as your backstage pass to getting up close and personal with your favorite teachers. First up? It’s Ms. Mae Punzalan, Pudong High School’s IB/AP Computer Science teacher and Eagle since 2007.

Mae is more than just a teacher. She's a trailblazer, inspiring students, especially females, to dive headfirst into technology-driven fields. It's no coincidence that our Pudong campus won the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for the 2022-23 school year, which recognizes schools that are expanding young women's access to AP computer science coursework.
