INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMICS
High school is the time when student choice shines. High schoolers can pick from core subjects like math, science, social studies, and English, but also from a wide variety of electives. IB or AP, well, we've got both for them to chose from – it’s totally up to them.
GLOBAL LANGUAGES
Explore the world without leaving Shanghai through our languages program which features Chinese, French, and Spanish. Looking for something different? Other languages are available through self study options.
SELF-EXPRESSION
We encourage self-expression in everything our students do, but especially in the visual and performing arts. This is a high school experience that leaves students ready to take on whichever stage they choose.
ROBOTICS
Not to brag, but...our robotics program is pretty excellent. Whether through classes or clubs or competitions, students have the opportunity to really excel in the world of robotics.

Sports & Athletics
Building upon the foundations they learned in middle school, our high schoolers get the chance to try out for 13 different sports offered on both campuses. From local rivalries to global showdowns, our athletes learn valuable life lessons every time they step onto the field. And with pep rallies and Friday Night Lights events with hot dogs and bulgogi, our community gets the unique experience of feeling like they're in America and Asia at the same time.
Performing Arts
Whether it’s the stage or the studio, our students explore music, theater, and dance to develop their unique artistic voices. With opportunities to showcase their talents in international collaborations and join esteemed honor societies like Tri-M and Thespians, the spotlight is always on our talented performers. At SAS, their creativity takes centerstage.
Clubs & Community
SAS is where students discover their passions while making a difference. There are more than 140 student-led clubs to choose from, including prom committee, Model United Nations, honor societies and so much more. Each club is professionally mentored, but student led. Each student is guaranteed to find their tribe and leave their mark.
College Counseling
We have the largest team of college counselors of any international school in not only Shanghai, but China. Across both campuses we have nine college counselors and they have all the expertise our students need to find the best university fit for them. And that includes insider knowledge from college admission offices from around the world. Starting in 9th grade, our counselors get to know students and guide them throughout high school, whether it be course selections, crafting outstanding essays, or writing recommendations.
