Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders Today
At Shanghai American School, leadership isn’t just about titles—it’s about making things happen. The Student Leadership Retreat is an annual event that gives our high school student leaders the chance to level up their skills, build cross-campus connections, and turn big ideas into real action for sustainable change.
Held over two action-packed days, students from both Pudong and Puxi participated in workshops, games, and discussions designed to enhance their leadership. This year’s retreat, co-led by our Global Citizenship Coordinators and an educational organization, Inspire Citizens, focused on everything from teamwork and vision-building to tackling social issues like sustainability and cultural awareness. And as part of this leadership journey, students also took charge of organizing the annual Club Fair to recruit new members for student-led clubs and initiatives that shape life on campus.
But this retreat isn’t just about learning how to lead a club or plan an event. It’s about understanding yourself, finding your voice, and learning how to inspire others to make positive changes. Whether it’s leading a service project, creating a more inclusive community, or simply making student life better, SAS student leaders left the retreat ready to deliver positive impacts!
Students gained the confidence to navigate challenges, the skills to bring people together, and a deeper understanding of how their unique strengths can make a difference. Plus, they got to bond with other student leaders from across the school—because at SAS, collaboration is key.
At the end of the day, leadership at SAS is all about action, empathy, and making an impact. The Student Leadership Retreat is where new tools are acquired, skills are polished, and positive community impacts are started.
