Bestselling Author Neal Shusterman visits SAS
Imagine your favorite idol visiting SAS and you got to ask them anything you wanted. For book-loving Eagles, last week’s visit from bestselling author Neal Shusterman was like that! His books have long captivated SAS readers, with Scythe consistently being the most checked-out book from our library in recent years.
Shusterman’s highly anticipated visit brought excitement and inspiration as he engaged middle and high school students in graphic novel workshops, assemblies, and special small group sessions, where students explored world-building and dialogue creation. High schoolers gained unique insights as Shusterman urged them to write authentically and passionately. Meeting the creator behind some of their favorite novels left students excited to develop their own story ideas; many eagerly lined up for autographs, photos and shared how his books have impacted them.
These types of experiences awaken students' love of literature and provide rare opportunities to engage directly with the creators of the worlds they admire. SAS is always seeking to bring inspiring figures like Shusterman to workshop with our students to enrich their education by creating authentic and memorable connections.
