Alumni Legends | The Creator: Jin Jin Xu '13

In celebration of Women's History Month, we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary achievements of Jin Jin Xu, a class of 2013 alumni deeply committed to sharing women's stories through her multi-disciplinary art. Jin Jin draws inspiration from the diverse experiences of women, delving into themes such as the complex dynamics between mothers and daughters. Her passion for amplifying women's voices has taken her across the globe, from engaging with refugee women in Germany, Turkey, and Thailand to immersing herself in the study of nüshu, an almost extinct, centuries-old Chinese script developed by women in Jiangyong County, to communicate with one another secretly.

Jin Jin's highly anticipated exhibition, "Against This Earth, She Knocks," is set to grace the How Art Museum from March 31 to May 26. This showcase represents the culmination of a decade-long artistic and poetic journey, weaving together narratives from women across the globe. Her evocative work offers a profound and poignant reflection of the diverse and compelling female experience.
