Alumni Legends | The Activist: Mimi Gardner ’49

In honor of International Women’s Day and in celebration of the female legends of SAS, we present Marybelle Brewster - now Mimi Gardner, a second-generation SAS student from 1947 to 1949 and one of our eldest alumna. That’s right, second generation, as her own father graduated 1924, possibly making her the first legacy student!

Watch as she reflects about her life since leaving China in the 1940s and where life has taken her including becoming a mother of three, a minister, editor of the SASA alumni newsletter, and an activist.
